Stainless Steel 310 (SS 310) is a high-temperature alloy known for its excellent resistance to oxidation and sulfidation. It belongs to the austenitic stainless steel family and is primarily composed of iron, chromium (around 25-28%), and nickel (around 19-22%). SABS or SANS standard 1123 are flanges developed for use in high pressure environments. Typically produced from stainless steel, these international standards are applied in the fields of water. Hence, the SANS / SABS 1123 Flanges may also be used in applications involving sanitation. Apart from conventional grades like 316 or even 304, these flanges may be produced from premium metals like Inconel or Hastelloy.

To bring down the cost of the application, and in instances where corrosion resistance is a characteristic that is not deemed important, the industry may use both carbon steel and alloy steel. They work longer, and are durable, while also resisting corrosion and withstanding elevated pressure levels.
